Actor ‘Ali Nuhu’: Biography, Education, Career, Marriage, Net Worth, Achievements and Controversy

Ali Nuhu is an actor, producer, director, scriptwriter, and dancer. 

He was born on the 15th of March 1974 in Maiduguri to Nuhu Poloma and Fatima Karderam Digema.

Ali is referred to as the King of Kannywood, the Hausa movie industry. He is also described as the most prominent movie star in the northern part of Nigeria.

He is the most consistent face on the screen in Kannywood.

Ali had his elementary education at Riga Special Elementary School before proceeding to Government Secondary Commercial School in Kano and then Science Secondary School Dawakin for his secondary education.

He then proceeded to the  University of Jos, where he bagged a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography. In addition, he also acquired a diploma in film production and cinematic arts from the University of Southern California.

He also obtained a diploma from the Asian School of Media studies in New Delhi.

Ali’s journey into the acting world began when he attended an audition as an undergraduate in his university days in Jos.

During his one-year mandatory national service in Oyo state, he actively participated in the Dance and Drama Troupe of the  National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Ibadan, Oyo State, in 1998. He also had the opportunity to represent Oyo State in the NYSC National Dance and Drama Competition

After his service year, Ali started professional acting in his debut movie, “Abin sirri ne”. He had his first hit for his role in “Sangaya”, one of the highest-grossing Hausa films at the time.

Ali Nuhu has starred in several big-budget projects like Azal, Jarumin Maza, Stinda, Danadam Butulu, Dijanagala, Wasila, and Mujadala, amongst others.

The actor celebrated his 20th year on-screen In 2019. He has now featured in over five hundred (500) movies.

Ali Nuhu is married to Maimuna Garba Ja Abdulkadir, and their union is blessed with three children.

Controversy

Ali Nuhu was alleged to secretly plan to take another wife.

The rumour spread like wildfire when he released a photo of himself and Kannywood actress Hadiza Gabon.

He debunked the allegations and stated that the photo was from a movie shoot.

He said, “This picture (the photo which went viral) was posted and tagged “Daga fim din Akushi” 

He added that “Sometimes you people (media) give these things so much importance and I don’t think all this is necessary, if some people are stupid enough to start asking these questions then you should educate them.”
