Anambra begin enforcement of taxes and levies payment Tuesday

The Anambra State Government has said it will commence massive enforcement of tax compliance in the state from Tuesday.

This was disclosed in a statement on Saturday by the Head, Taxpayer Education and Enlightenment Team of the Anambra State Internal Revenue Service, Sylvia Tochukwu-Ngige.

The agency urged commercial motorcycle riders, tricycle operators and bus drivers operating in the state and yet to be enumerated to go for enumeration and pay the levies as agreed by their union and the state government.

It also advised those yet to pay their taxes and levies to do so immediately, warning that defaulters would have themselves to blame, if they refused to comply.

The statement read in part, “The Anambra State Internal Revenue Service wishes to inform the citizens of Anambra State that from Tuesday next week, September 13, 2022, to be precise, there will be massive enforcement of tax compliance in Anambra State.

“By this announcement, all commercial motorcycle riders (Okada), tricycle operators (Keke) and bus drivers operating in Anambra State yet to be enumerated should go for enumeration and pay the levies as agreed by their union and the Anambra State Government.

“Those yet to pay their taxes and levies to Anambra State Government are by this announcement advised to do so, immediately. Refusal to pay is against the law.”
