“The university’s alumni office of records told us that Concordia University has no record of Uba ever graduating from the school

“Our investigations also revealed a wrinkle in Uba’s claim to having obtained a Master’s degree from California State University.

“The official records we obtained from California State University indicated that the former presidential aide never earned a Master’s degree from there. In fact, he was never a graduate student of the said institution.

“The records of California State University show that Andy Uba was first enrolled at the school for an undergraduate program from March 1985 and dropped out March 1987 and then re-enrolled in September 27, 1990 till March 21, 1992 when he dropped out again, but never graduated.”

The administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo appointed Andy Uba as Special Assistant to the President on Special Duties and Domestic Affairs.

In 2007, Uba contested in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries for the Anambra State governorship election, and was elected in the 14 April 2007 elections.

However, the former governor Peter Obi challenged the election, saying that because the courts had only accepted that Obi had won the April 2003 elections on 15 March 2006, he still had three more years of his four-year term to serve.

The courts accepted this argument and on 14 June 2007 nullified Andy Uba’s election.

Uba was nominated as PDP candidate for Anambra South Senatorial district in the April 2011 elections. He won with 63,316 votes, ahead of Chukwmaeze Nzeribe of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) with 43,798 and the incumbent senator Ikechukwu Obiorah of the Accord party with 24,724.

Uba’s election was challenged by Senator Obiora, the Accord candidate, who claimed that Uba had forged his West African School Certificate (WASC) and had not obtained any of the university degrees that he claimed.

The is no official estimation of Andy Uba’s net worth however, it is undeniable he is substantially wealthy.

His wealth is presumed to be from politics and works he has done prior to politics.

Controversy

In 2021, some staff of Heritage Bank allegedly protested at the Abuja residence of Senator Andy Ubah over debts they claimed he has owed the bank for some years.

A report by Nairametrics in 2022 claimed an Abuja High Court has ordered the seizure of vehicles belonging to senator Andy Uba over N50 million debt owed Oranto Petroleum Limited.

Officials of the execution unit of the court alongside police officers reportedly stormed Mr Uba’s residence situated at No. 49 T.Y Danjuma Street, Asokoro, Abuja and seized Jeep vehicles belonging to the senator.

Oranto Petroleum had instituted the suit in 2016 against senator Uba following his refusal to pay back a N50 million friendly interest-free loan he was granted.

Reacting to the report, the former Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial zone said he never borrowed the N50 million from Prince Arthur Eze but the latter had donated it to support his election campaign in 2015.
