He started his professional career at Sao Paulo, where he made 111 appearances and netted 11 goals before heading to Real Madrid in 2013.

He spent a season with FC Porto after being transferred to the Portuguese division on loan from Real Madrid, acquiring additional experience, before returning to the La Liga to play a crucial part for Real Madrid.

Casemiro, a full-time member of the Brazilian national team since 2011, competed in four Copa América competitions, including the 2019 title game and the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Casemiro and Manchester United agreed to a £59.5m deal on August 19, 2022. The transfer is contingent upon meeting personal terms, including UK immigration requirements and passing a medical test.

Style of play

Casemiro has been compared to former Real Madrid defensive midfielder Claude Makélélé in terms of his playing style.

Casemiro primarily functions as a defensive midfielder, but he has also occasionally played as a centre-back or in a box-to-box position in the middle of the field.

He excels in a midfield position in front of the defence by stopping counterattacks and protecting the back line because of his quick responses, great positional sense, game reading, and good anticipation.

Casemiro is a versatile midfielder who can contribute offensively and even score goals, in addition to breaking up moves. He has strong outside-the-area shooting, solid distribution, the ability to push forward with his runs off the ball, and the ability to start attacks with his passes.

Casemiro will make a gross annual salary of £18.2 million during the course of his four-year contract with United. Only David de Gea and Cristiano Ronaldo will earn more than him at the club.
