In 2021, Bella Shurda’s initial record label, One Word Global Records Limited, sued him for copyright infringement and breach of contract
The record label said it had a deal with the artist which expires in 2022
Bella is said to have a subsisting contract with One Word Global Records Limited which is due to expire in 2022.
The label asserts that the singer has violated the terms of the contract by releasing, publishing, distributing, and promoting songs and videos, among other things, without the label’s permission or knowledge.
The singer has even gone so far as to declare that, while his contract with One Word Global Records Limited is still in effect, he has signed with a different record company, Dangbana Republik. The singer is alleged to have collaborated with other artists without the record label’s permission.
The record label also accused Bella of failing to give it the royalties that were owed from the use of the songs that were distributed by the label.
The label then seeks N200 million in damages for the contract breach.
In 2021, Bella was allegedly deported from Ghana for attacking a doctor who announced his COVID-19 test result.
The artiste was reported to have attacked the doctor with a fork alongside two other of his colleagues while in quarantine.
Bella and his colleagues were fined GH2,000 each and was banned from travelling to Ghana for 3 months.
In another development in 2021, Bella Shmurda was reportedly drunk while performing on stage at a show.
In the clip, the artist was seen staggering on stage, and this led to outbursts from his fans who accused him of being drunk.
Refuting the allegation, Bella made a post on Instagram. “Be careful with false information. Verify your news before putting it out,” he wrote.
