Controversy

Wene Mighty was accused of acquiring his wealth from oil bunkering. The artist responding to this allegation said “I have read in several places where people link my wealth to illegal activities like oil bunkering but I don’t feel bad about it. Such things are normal. Making money in life for me is not the ultimate thing. People would always judge how you make money especially when they know where you are coming from. They know that my family did not have money while I was growing up so they would question my wealth. When God blesses you, he does not look at where you are coming from. It is just a normal thing for people to talk about the way you made your money without talking about how you suffered,

In another development in 2018, a picture of his wife Vivian battered with a swollen face circulated on the internet. It was alleged that the artist had brutally abused her which he denied.

In 2019, Duncan Mighty was arrested for N11m fraud but was rumoured to be kidnapped.

His billionaire friend, Cubana Chief Priest, took to the internet to claim that Duncan Mighty was kidnapped, but the Imo State Police Command refuted the claim, saying that he was arrested for fraud.

In a statement released, a petition submitted accused Duncan of defrauding an upcoming artist in a deal that involved Imo state former Governor, Rochas Okorocha.

The statement reads “This followed a petition written by an upcoming rap artist M2, who claimed that the Imo State Government led by Owelle Rochas Okorocha, through the office of the SA on Entertainment, entered into a deal with Duncan Mighty to manage, promote, arrange collaboration with other top artiste and sign M2 under YOUNG WEALTH record label owned by Duncan Mighty, as a result, an agreement was reached with a fee of ELEVEN MILLION NAIRA (N11,000,000) paid to him, However, since collecting the payment he refused to fulfill his own part of the deal,

In 2020, Duncan Mighty accused his wife of paternal fraud after conducting a DNA test which revealed that his supposed daughter, Mitchell, was not his.

He also further accused his wife and her family of trying to kill him, alleging that his wife has poisoned his food and bath water for about two years and eleven months attempting to take over his properties.

However, the couple is not legally divorced but has since been separated.

In 2022, NewsWireNGR reported that Duncan Mighty was accused of collecting money and not showing up for shows.

In the publication, it was stated that some victims have taken to the internet to express their displeasure with the alleged behaviour of the artist.

In an online post, Jackson Ude, an aide to former president Goodluck Jonathan, narrated his experience with the artist.

He wrote, “I paid Duncan Mighty N3 million for Nkporo Youths Unity Concert that held December 30 2021, and additional N630k for flight tickets. He didn’t show up for the concert.

He wrote “I paid Duncan Mighty N3million for Nkporo Youths Unity Concert that held December 30 2021, and additional N630k for flight tickets. He didn’t show up for the concert.”

“Next I heard was a picture of him wrapped in bandages claiming accident while holding his cell phone.”

“Duncan Mighty has become notorious for collecting money from show promoters and not showing up.”

“He did that with a show in Uromi, Uyo and other places. I am not one who would want to deal with folks in the entertainment industry. Duncan should avoid my troubles and pay back NOW!”

Andy Onugbu Okwuise, another supposed victim, also shared his experience with Duncan Mighty in a tweet.

In his tweet, he wrote, “Duncan also did this to me In July 2021 when I invited him for Arise Concert.”

“Infact when I put him on the bill a friend of mine warned me that he took his 2.5million and didn’t show up for the event But I didn’t listen hoping that since we all came from same hood he will not do that to me”

“Few months later when I met Duncan in Lagos he was lying to me that he came for the event but he came late & the show had ended which angered me because me and my team was the last to leave the event ground.”

“Over 2.8million was wasted because of Duncan Mighty, executive room that was paid for him and his manager in Ibom Icon, his feeding and transportation this guy refused to show up even when we were calling him he wasn’t picking up his calls.”

“Meanwhile we have a signed agreement with him ooo. I chose not to chase him again because last last we go jam for PH.”

“But people dealing with him should just be very very careful, I don’t know why such a promising talent want to destroy what he has built over time.”

“These past December I know another of my colleague he collected money from & didn’t show up.”
