Biography

Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah was an entrepreneur, businessman and politician.

Until his death on July 27, 2024, he served as the senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria representing Anambra South senatorial district.

Senator Ifeanyi Ubah was born in Otolo, Nnewi on the 3rd of September, 1971 to Mr Alphonsus Ubah and Mrs Patty Ubah.

Ifeanyi is the first son of seven children in his family.

He founded Capital Oil and the Ifeanyi Ubah Football Club in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Education

Ifeanyi Ubah attended Okongwu Memorial Grammar School, Nnewi, Anambra state before heading to Premier Academy, Lugbe, Abuja where he dropped out because his parents couldn’t afford his academic and material needs.

After acquiring riches himself, Ifeanyi Ubah has been able to equip himself with more knowledge as he rises through his ranks in the entrepreneurship journey.

He attended some leadership and business management seminars both at home and abroad.

Dr Ubah also has a degree in law from Baze University, Abuja.

Career

Ifeanyi started his business as an exporter of motor tyres and parts in West African nations like Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo before extending to Belgium and the UK. 

In 2001, he founded Capital Oil and Gas Limited. 

In, 2015, he founded the Nigerian daily newspaper, The Authority, and the Ifeanyi Ubah F.C., previously known as Gabros International Football Club 

His newspaper publication covers both domestic and foreign news.

Additionally, he established the Nigerian football team Ifeanyi Ubah F.C. in 2015. 

His football team became the first in Nigeria to hire Brazilian players and coaches in 2016. 

He has also worked with West Ham United FC of EnglandWhen Ifeanyi Ubah F.C. worked with, a European team, the team won the Nigeria FA Cup a year after he became its owner.

in August 2016 when FC Ifeanyi Ubah became the first Nigerian club to partner a European club as it signed a partnership deal with West Ham United of England,

In the 2014 election for governor of Anambra, Ubah, a candidate for the Labour Party, came in last. On February 24, 2019, Ifeanyi Ubah, a member of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), was named the victor of the Anambra South Senate race.

Marriage

Ifeanyi Ubah married to Uchenna Ubah who he met when he was 21.

Uchenna was a graduate of Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University and she currently sits as the Executive Director of Capital Oil.

Ifeanyi and Uchenna are blessed with 5 kids.

Achievements

Ifeanyi Ubah, a philanthropist owns the Ifeanyi Ubah Foundation whose sole responsibly is to provide social assistance to the underprivileged masses

Dr Ifeanyi Ubah has also been featured in the Oxford Brookes Magazine “Forty under Forty 2009”. Indicating that he’s among the top successful forty young Nigerian below the age forty.

He had won numerous awards both in Nigeria and abroad for his contribution to sport, leadership and impeccable performance in the oil and gas industry.

Ubah is a proud recipient of the Honorary Doctor of Philosophy in Critical and Creative Thinking from Montclair State University, New Jersey, USA.

Net worth

Dr Ifeanyi Ubah is undoubtedly a billionaire with class. He has acquired wealth as an oil mogul and a politician including in his sporting business.

He owns numerous assets.

Classic Rolls Royce and Expensive houses have been attached to the billionaire by different online sources.

He is said to have an estimated net worth of about $1.7 billion according to an online publication.

Controversy

A lawsuit was filed by Mr Obinna Uzoh, the runner-up of the election and PDP candidate, accusing Ubah YPP of forging this certificate. 

On April 11, 2019, a Federal High Court in Kubwa, Abuja, removed Ifeanyi from the Senate accusing him of certificate forgery.

However,  Ubah filed for an appeal in the matter, and the Court of Appeal decided in his favour by declaring that the High Court lacked jurisdiction to hear the appeal.

Ubah’s candidacy was then upheld to represent Anambra South in the Senate under the umbrella of the Young Progressive Party (YPP).
