Biography

Nasiru Ado Bayero is a renowned banker, businessman, and the present Emir of Bichi, a first-class traditional emirate in Kano.

He was born on 2 February 1964 to Ado Bayero, the longest serving Emir of Kano Emirate, and Hajiya Maryam Bayero, an Ilorin princess.

Nasir is the younger brother of the current Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, and a nephew of the deposed Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II.

His appointment as the Emir of Bichi and his brother’s appointment as the Emir of Kano is a groundbreaking record in the history of the Kano Emirates, as in over about 1000 years of existence of the emirate, siblings of the same parents have never been first-class emir at the same time.

His father assigned him the position of Tafidan Kano and District Head of Tarauni when he was 30 years old.

In June 2000, he was promoted to the roles of Turakin Kano and District Head of Tarauni. But he was moved from Tarauni to Nassarawa in May 2007 and appointed district head there.

He was later promoted to the position of Ciroman Kano and made a member of the Kano Emirate Council while still holding the position of district head in Nassarawa.

However, his daughter, Zahra, got married to President Muhammadu Buhari’s only son’s, Yusuf in 2021.

In 2014, PremiumTimes published a publication about the mistress of the former Emir of Kano and father of Nasir, Ado Bayero.

The woman, Hauwa Momoh, lamented in the publication that she and her children had been neglected after the death of Ado Bayero; the father of Nasir.

She, however, further said she made efforts to meet with the royal family but she wasn’t granted access.

Hajiya Momoh also said her children and herself are willing to commit suicide if Nasir and the current Emir, Aminu Ado Bayero, don’t come to her aid.
