Job Alert in the United Kingdom: Lead Software Engineer £70,000 to £90,000 with UK Visa Sponsorship

Lead Software Engineer

Job LocationsUK-Cambridge

Overview

We’re seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join our team.

Redgate’s software transforms the way teams across the globe deliver their software. Our products solve database problems across the development lifecycle, from development to deployment all whilst ensuring performance and security.

Redgate’s Lead Software Engineers are responsible for improving how Redgate builds and maintains software, alongside actively contributing to product development. You’ll grow the skills of your team members with a focus on building technical skills though mentoring, coaching or teaching and you’ll be responsible for the quality of engineering practices within the team.

You’ll be part of a cross-functional team and involved at every stage of the product life cycle, from early-stage research, to deployment, operations and beyond. Redgate teams are highly collaborative and take ownership of the product and the roadmap. Balancing customer needs and market opportunity whilst building ingeniously simple software is at the heart of Redgate engineering.

Redgate’s technology is rapidly evolving (see our Tech Radar) from our desktop heritage to our server-based tooling future. We primarily use modern C# and React for developing our software and are moving to a cloud-native future.

We’ve got some exciting technical challenges ahead of us as we continue to focus on broadening our database offerings. Some technical challenges to solve include how we build tools that work with multiple RDBMS, and how we should architect our systems to work as well in the cloud as they do locally. We are also moving from predominately Windows-based software to be platform-neutral. And these are just some of the challenging problems you could work on as Redgate grows.

What kind of skills and behaviours would you bring to make you an excellent Lead Software Engineer?

  • Excellent skills?using a modern object-oriented language – we?write code in a plethora of languages, including?C#,?Java,?TypeScript and Go.??
  • You’re happy to learn new skills?and technology?as needed?(with ample help and support from us!).??
  • You enjoy building the skills of others in your team through pairing/coaching/mentoring as appropriate.
  • You have strong opinions, but you’re not afraid to change them in light of new evidence.
  • You believe in showing over telling; if your approach to a problem is better, then a demonstrating it is much better.

And in return, Redgate provides:

Redgate is happy to fully fund all charges related to the successful applicant obtaining a Skilled Worker Visa if needed. We also assist with both the financial costs and logistics of your move to the UK.

At Redgate we recruit on a rolling basis, which means we carry on recruiting until we find the right person for the role. We tend to compare individuals to the role specification rather than to each other.

If this role sounds exciting, then we would like to hear from you.
