There seems to be confusion about David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, links to the Eastern parts of Nigeria, given his family’s available name and ties to Ede in Osun state. 

To answer the question, the Nigerian Singer, songwriter, record producer, and his family members are half Igbo and Yoruba. The Singer who blends traditional African elements with global mainstream pop confirmed this!

Superstar musician, Davido, mourned his grandmother, who was Igbo, after a trending video of his uncle speaking the language surfaced online, leaving fans shocked.

Eleven years of the death of his grandmother Nnena Esther Adeleke, Nigerian Singer Davido and the Adeleke’s penned a sweet message on her remembrance day. 

The family, in a short message through Davido’s dad Adedeji Adeleke described the Nnenna as a good and humble woman. 

Taking to his Instagram page, The Singer shared a picture of his grandmother as he confirmed his grandmother is Igbo, which surprised many of his fans.

Sharing a photo of the late grandma on his Instastory, Davido wrote – “Yes, my grandma is Igbo. Miss you, Mama.”
