Femi Otedola is rated the wealthiest man in Lagos, Nigeria, with a net worth estimated at $1.8 billion. The oil magnet is the son of the former Lagos state governor; Femi is a renowned businessman and philanthropist known for his luxurious lifestyle. He was a former chairman of Forte Oil Plc. He is the founder of Zenon Petroleum and Gas Ltd, and his business activities also span Real estate, shipping, finance, and energy. 

Folorunso Alakija – The wealthiest woman in Lagos, Folorunso Alja is one of the richest people in Lagos state. The billionaire businesswoman is estimated to be worth $1 billion. She is an investor in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. Her firm, Famfa oil is a licensed explorer of the OPL 216 oil well; she is also into the real estate and fashion businesses. She is the wealthiest woman in Lagos and, by extension, the country.

Tony Elumelu – Nigerian entrepreneur and investor Tony Elumelu owns a controlling interest in Transcorp, a publicly traded Nigerian conglomerate interested in hospitality, agriculture, oil production and power generation. He came into the limelight in 1997 when he led a small group of investors to take over a small, floundering commercial bank in Lagos. He turned it profitable within a few years, and in 2005, he merged it with the United Bank for Africa. That banking group now has subsidiaries in 20 African countries and the U.S and U.K. Elumelu also own extensive real estate across Nigeria and a minority stake in mobile telecom firm MTN Nigeria, among other assets. Although he is from Delta State, Nigeria, he is a Lagos resident and considered one of the state’s wealthiest men. 

Bola Tinubu – Another Lagosian who made the list of wealthiest men in Lagos is former Lagos state governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Jagaban, as he is popularly called, is one of the most prominent politicians in Nigeria. He has stayed very active in Nigerian politics since the return of Democracy in 1999. He is currently the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC ahead of the 2023 general elections. He is also a media investor and owns a top television station in Nigeria, Television Continental (TVC).

Adewale Tinubu – Adewale Tinubu, a relative of Bola Tinubu, Lagos state’s former governor, is among Lagos State’s wealthiest billionaires. He is a lawyer and businessman. Adewale is the group chief executive of Oando Plc, a top and renowned oil company in Nigeria. He also co-founded Ocean & Oil Group, an oil trading firm in Nigeria.
