1. APC VP slot: Why I opted for Muslim-Muslim ticket — Tinubu [Vanguard Newspaper]

Presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress,  APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has named former governor of Borno State,  Senator Kashim Shettima, as his running mate.

“Senator Shettima is a close associate of Tinubu, who had been a staunch supporter and campaigner for the choice of Tinubu as the next president of Nigeria,” said Bayo Onanuga, Director, Media and Communication, Tinubu Campaign Organization. Read more.

2. Fuel hits N250/litre in Abuja, others, queues spread [Punch Newspaper]

Some filling stations in Lagos, Abuja, Niger and other states dispensed Premium Motor Spirit at between N200/litre to N250/litre on Sunday, higher than the government-approved retail price of N165/litre, as queues for the product extended to more states.

It was gathered that the worsening queues for petrol in Lagos and neighbouring states, as well as its prolonged persistence in Abuja and environs, were due to the insufficient supply of products by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company. Read more.

3. IPOB warns of an alleged plot to attack its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, at the Kuje Prison [NewsWireNGR]

The Indigenous People of Biafra has said it is not oblivious of an alleged plot to attack its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, at the Kuje Prison, by men of the Department of States Services.

This was as the group blamed the United Kingdom for the perpetual incarceration of the IPOB leader, saying the aim was to scuttle the actualisation for the liberation of Biafra. Read more.

4. Bodies Recovered From Lagos Boat Accident [NewsWireNGR]

Emergency responders have recovered the bodies of a 52-year-old male and 20-year-old female, believed to be victims of boat accident in Lagos.

Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, the Zonal Coordinator South-West National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), confirmed the development on Saturday in Lagos. Read more.

5. Kuje Attack: ‘What a shame!’, Army dismisses Fani-Kayode’s allegations [NewsWireNGR]

The Defence Headquarters has dismissed the allegations that the Department of State Security (DSS) informed the military about an impending attack on Kuje Correctional Centre and a previous attack on a Kaduna-Abuja passenger train.

The Director of Defence Information, Maj.-Gen. Jimmy Akpor, in a statement on Saturday, described the allegations by a former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, as wild and unsubstantiated. Read more.

6. Sanwo-Olu’s aide apologises to Lagosians over deadly floods [NewsWireNGR]

The Special Adviser on Drainage and Water Resources to Governor Babajide Sanwo- Olu of Lagos State, Joe Igbokwe, has written an open apology to Lagosians over the flood that ravaged the state on Saturday, after a heavy downpour, causing loss of property amongst others.

In a statement on Sunday, the SA, Igbokwe, apologised saying that the flood could not be disconnected from the fact that Lagos was a coastal city. Read more.
