1. PDP sets up panel to beg Wike [Punch Newspaper]

The loyalists of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, have listed conditions for the resolution of the crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party.

Supporters of the governor on Sunday, said it was not late for the PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to revisit the issue of his running mate by dropping the Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, whom he picked last month.

As the crisis over Atiku’s running mate worsened, the Chairman of the PDP’s Board of Trustees, Senator Walid Jibrin, said the party had set up a nine-member committee to beg Wike.

2. 2023: Kwankwaso confirms merger talks with LP; says can’t be running mate to Obi [NewsWireNGR]

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has confirmed his party is discussing with Labour Party, a possible merger.

The former governor of Kano state disclosed this in an interview with newsmen while on a visit to Gombe State where he went to inaugurate the state office of NNPP and meet with elected members of the party stated. Read more.

3. Gunmen abduct two Catholic priests in Edo [NewsWireNGR]

Two Catholic priests, Rev. Father Udo of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Uromi, and Rev. Father Philemon Oboh of St. Joseph Retreat Centre, Ugboha in Edo State, were reportedly kidnapped on Saturday night.

They were abducted along the Benin-Auchi Road on their way back to Uromi in Esan South-East Local Government Area of the state. The incident has thrown the churches’ members into fear over the safety of their clergymen. Read more.

4. Vandals destroy 20 transformers in 3 weeks – EEDC [NewsWireNGR]

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) says more than 20 transformers have been attacked by vandals across the company’s franchise network within the South-East in the past three weeks.

The Head of Corporate Communications, EEDC, Mr Emeka Ezeh, said in a statement on Sunday in Enugu that four of the suspected vandals had been apprehended. Read more.

5. Aliko Dangote on $2.5 Billion Fertilizer Plant and increasing demand from the EU [NewsWireNGR]

In March, Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, opened A $2.5 billion urea and ammonia fertilizer plant in Nigeria commissioned by the country’s President Muhammadu Buhari.

In an interview with FORBES AFRICA, Dangote, the president and CEO of Dangote Group, the continent’s largest cement producer, says the new fertilizer plant, which has already started production, could lead to Nigeria earning about $5 billion in export revenue. Read more.

The United Nations Children’s Fund,UNICEF, has hailed rescue of 50 children abducted and held against their will in Ondo State.

7. In Anambra, a woman pushed her maid from four-storey building [NewsWireNGR]

A woman, identified as Mrs Onwanna Nnenna, from Nando, Anambra State, has allegedly pushed her 14-year-old maid, identified as Ijeoma Nwafor, from a four-storey building.
