Portable (Zazu Zeh), was born, Habeeb Okikiola, Habeeb Okikiola (born March 12, 1994) .

He is the newest face in the Nigerian indigenous rap scene and appeals to a lot of Nigerians in the street – The Yoruba-born rapper, singer and songwriter, became popular after he collaborated with rapper Olamide and dancer Poco Lee on his hit song Zazuu Zeh.

Biography:

Like him or hate him, Portable remains one of the fastest-growing Nigerian singers in the last five months.

Before December 2021, fans knew little or nothing about Habeeb Okikiola, now famous as Portable.

The 27-year-old Sango Ota-based singer stumbled into fame with the release of his hit song, Zazu Zeh, which gradually won the heart of fans and quickly grew into fans’ favourite song.

Early Life

The Ogun State-born rapper grew up in Abeokuta with his family before moving to Sango-Ota, a city in Ogun state but close to Lagos State.

Portable stumbled on fame by chance when a blogger, Don Blue, used ‘Zazu Zeh’ as a soundtrack on a post which eventually piqued the famous Nigerian singer Olamide’s interest.

He married his lover, Zainab Balogun, during their second child’s naming ceremony in 2022.

During the child’s christening, the couple in matching outfits exchanged wedding bands in the presence of Islamic clerics, their families, and well-wishers.

He is a father of a baby boy named Iyanuoluwa and recently, his girlfriend birthed a son whose name is yet to be made public. He now has two sons.

Controversy:

He keeps making headlines for the wrong reasons. First, he had a viral feud with Poco Lee. It all started when fame came knocking on his door after famous Nigerian singer Olamide had featured Portable and popular dancer Poco Lee in the hit song Zazu Zeh.

Shortly after the song started making waves, Portable, in a series of videos that went viral on social media, called out Poco Lee for allegedly stealing the money given to him by Nigerian Grammy winner Wizkid during his performance with Olamide at Livespot X Festival.

His outburst revealed that he was only given $600 of the money while Poco Lee made away with the remaining $2400.While Poco Lee is yet to react to the statement, the video has amassed different reactions from Nigerians online.

Portable’s outburst did not go down well with his producer, Kogbagidi, which provoked the him to walk Portable out from the record label.

Feeling remorseful, Portable later apologised to his promoter. At the same time, other celebrities like Olamide, Slimcase and Yomi Fabiyi also joined him, apologising to music promoter Kogbagidi on behalf of the singer.

Not long after, Portable sacks manager, DJ and show promoter, the Zah Zuh coroner had sacked his crew members, including his manager, disc jockey and show promoter.

He said they put up an attitude whenever new people want to “mingle” with him.

Speaking further, Portable accused his crew members of always holding him back from meeting new people and making progress in his career.

He mentioned that he no longer wants to deal with their attitude, and he wants to maintain his space.

These events then followed a ‘denial of an entry visa into Canada’He was removed as one of the guest musicians performing at a show in Canada.

A Canadian-based Nigerian MC, Morris, said they dropped the singer because of his attitude.

The MC complained that Portable had sacked two managers in less than a year, and he would no longer have him perform in his show.

He went further to say that he has written to immigration to deny his visa application.

Portable also makes headlines for his series of fights with some fans. He allegedly got into a nasty fight with some Benin fans at a show in Edo State.

Hours after the fight, Portable almost got into another fight with a DJ in a club. The singer got infuriated and irritated with how the DJ handled his song.

Shortly after that show, Portable was seen in a live recorded video challenging some police officers who attempted to arrest him.

The organisers of Headies Awards had also threatened to disqualify fast-rising Nigerian singer, for threatening to kill his co-nominees of its 2022 edition.

The organisers who are not happy with Portable made this known in a statement on its verified Instagram page on Friday, May 28 2022.

Portable was nominated to contest in the ‘Rookie of the Year’ and ‘Best Street-Hop Artiste’ categories when The Headies unveiled the nominees for its 2022 edition on Tuesday.

Other nominees e in the ‘Rookie of the Year’ category include Av, Fave, Magixx, and Ugocci.

For the second category, he is pitted against Bella Shmurda, Mohbad, Naira Marley, and Goya Menor among others.

Portable the ‘Zazuu’ crooner took to his Instagram page to make a threat to whoever wins the 2022 Headies Award over him.

And according to the controversial singer, if he fails to win, he will kill whoever beats him to the awards.

However, not being pleased with Portable’s statement, organisers of the awards in a swift response said:

“We have notified the Nigeria police of Mr. Okokiola’s actions to fellow nominees. Also, demand for the immediate retraction of the video as well as a written apology to nominees in both categories and to The Headies has been made.

“Should Mr. Okikiola fail to meet our demands, we will not only disqualify him from participating in The Headies but also enforce the instrumentality of the law.

“The general public are hereby implored to disregard the video and stop the dissemination of the same in the public space,” The Headies noted.
