‘They’re 4 Yoruba and 2 Fulani men’ — Gunmen in police uniforms ‘abduct’ 17 in Abuja

Gunmen dressed in police uniforms have reportedly abducted 17 persons including three pregnant women and two kids in Abuja.

A victim identified as Ameerah Sufyan, who alerted the public posted on her Twitter handle; “Please whoever has my WhatsApp number I sent a broadcast message of my location, we were abducted at gunpoint by ppl with police uniforms and a van from our houses from different parts of Abuja, we’re 17 including 3 pregnant women and two little kids, they didn’t see my phone (sic)”.

Giving an update, she also posted; “They’re 4 Yoruba and two Fulani men They divided us up an hour ago we’re 7 here The other vehicle they said they will reach Ilorin and ours will reach Ibadan or Ikeja as they said. (sic)”

Reacting, the FCT Police Command said “investigation is in progress” while urging the general public “to exercise calm and patience”.

Giving an update, the Police Command said it “wishes to update the general public” that “The investigative & tactical apparatus on the case remains as discoveries are looking promising. Contact is maintained with her family to speed up investigation”.
