2023: Kachikwu defeats Moghalu, Monye, others to emerge ADC presidential candidate

Dumebi Kachikwu has defeated the Kingsley Moghalu, Chukwuka Monye, and eight other presidential aspirants on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to emerge as the party’s candidate for the 2023 general elections.

Kachikwu who is the founder of Roots Television was declared the winner after polling 977 votes while his closest contender, Mr Moghalu, a former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria polled 589 votes. Monye came third with 339 votes.

Other aspirants include Mani Ibrahim, Angela Johnson, Joyce Nsaka, Chike Okogwu, Chichi Ojei, Favour Ayodele, Muhammed Lamido, Ify-George Oforkansi, and Ebiti Jegede

The younger brother of Nigeria’s former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, while addressing the delegates before the election had said; “I am here to offer myself to you not because I am better than anybody here, but because I care about the future of our country.

“I offer myself because God has given me the main recognition to stand side-by-side with Atiku, Tinubu and to send them into retirement”.
