President Muhammadu Buhari hosted stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for dinner at the State House, hours before the party’s special convention. The dinner was held a few hours after the Owo Catholic church massacre.

There was pandemonium at Saint Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, Owo,  the headquarters of the Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State as gunmen attacked the church on Sunday.

It was learnt the gunmen, who attacked the Catholic church, arrived at the premises, which is less than 200 metres from the palace of the Olowo of Owo, at 12pm when the Sunday mass was being rounded off.

The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, was seen laughing loudly at the dinner hosted by the President while the rest of the party leaders wine and dined along with the President, who seemed to be aloof to events around him.

The event was also attended by the leadership of the National Assembly, including the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, and other prominent members of the party. All who had issued faux condolence statements mourning the dead only to go and merry.

The President was expected to use the occasion to underscore his desire to achieve a consensus candidate for the party’s presidential ticket before the convention.

Reactions followed on twitter after the video was published but Premium Times deleted the video on twitter, other handles and media platforms still have it up.
