Who is Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi?

Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is a Nigerian politician under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before he decamped to All Progressive Congress (APC) in 2014.

The former Governor of Rivers state and the ex-Minister of Transportation.

He was born into a Christian family by the late Elder Fidelis Amaechi and Mrs Mary Amaechi in Ubima, Ikwerre local government area, Rivers state, Nigeria on the 27th of May, 1965.

How old is Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi?

He is currently 56 years old but would be 57-year-old this year (2022) since he was born on the 27th of 1965.

Amaechi Education

His academic journey started in 1970 to 1976 in St Theresa primary school. He attended Government secondary school in Okolobiri, Bayelsa state and obtained his Waec certificate in 1982. In the year 1987, he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in English studies and literature from the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. In the year 1988, he passed out from National Youth Service Corps.

Chibuike Rotimi Political Career

His political journey started in 1992 when he was made the secretary of the National Republican Convention in Ikwerre LGA, River state and he ended his tenure in 1994.

He was also made the special Assistant of Peter Odili who was the Deputy Governor of Rivers state and also in 1996 he was made the secretary of the Democratic Party of Nigeria in Rivers state.

Amaechi became a member of the River State House of Assembly in the year 1999 and on 26th October 2007 he became the Governor of River State.

On April 26th, 2011 he was re-elected as the governor of Rivers States.

The Supreme Court in May, 2022 granted the Rivers State panel of enquiry to probe the former Minister of Transportation over an alleged N96 billion fraud
