Passengers have been abducted by terrorists along the Abuja-Kaduna highway according to multiple accounts informing NewsWireNGR.

An unspecified number of persons were said to have been shot during the attack and a former Kaduna State lawmaker, Shehu Sani also confirmed the abductions. It is not clear the actual number kidnapped but sources estimate about 30 persons were abducted.

“Scores of people kidnapped along Kaduna-Abuja road this evening and others left wounded by gunshots” – Senator Sani wrote on his twitter late Tuesday.

The attack came barely two months after bandits derailed a Kaduna-bound train, killing scores and kidnapping several persons including pregnant women, some of whom are still in captivity.

Sani continued, “I have seen the photos of some of the Children kidnapped today;it’s unfortunate and tragic”.

The attack reportedly happened around 4:30 pm on Tuesday, leaving many injured, including women and children.
Passengers of a Zamfara State Transport Authority 18-seater bus, one Peugeot 406, two Toyota Corolla, a Golf car, and several other vehicles were attacked by the terrorists, sources say.

An earlier attack that left scores dead and injured and over 50 abducted forced the government to halt the train sevices on Abuja-Kaduna routes.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) recently announced that the Abuja-Kaduna train services will resume on Monday, May 23, 2022.

However, with those abducted not yet released, NRC said the service will return with greater security measures and without the early morning and the night train operations.

The statement from NRC partly reads: “Additional security measures are being put in place at both the train stations and the track to ensure the safety of the passengers on board.
