1. APC hawks pressure INEC to shift deadline for primaries [Vaguard Newspaper]

There are strong indications that a section of the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, is mounting pressure on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to extend the deadline for presidential primaries.

Sources claimed that the plot to get INEC to extend the deadline was hatched at a meeting in Abuja by some APC leaders to prepare the way for some late entrants into the presidential contest.

2. Multiple candidates threaten southern presidency, leaders warn 24 aspirants [Punch Newspaper]

In a  bid to ensure that the South produces the next President, leaders in the South-East and the South-West are expected to meet separately on Thursday and Friday.

The leaders of the pan-Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and the leading members of the All Progressives Congress in the South-West, who spoke separately with our correspondents, warned that the high number of southern presidential aspirants was a threat to the efforts of the region to produce the next president.

3. Governor Wike Says For 2023, Presidency, Nigeria needs a mad man [NewsWireNGR]

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State says the situation of Nigeria is so bad that the country needs a mad man to turn things around for the better.

The presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said this while addressing delegates of the party in Kogi State on Wednesday.

Former Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, has declared his intention to run for the seat of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Speaking during a press conference on Wednesday in Abuja, Oshiomhole said he will appropriately tax the rich to provide amenities for the poor.

“It is in the interest of the rich to pay that tax so they can enjoy their wealth,” he said saying that he will purchase the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination and expression of interest forms in the next few hours.” Read more.

5. UNIBEN Students defy heavy downpour, protest against  ASUU Strike  [NewsWireNGR]

Students from the University of Benin, the Edo State capital on Wednesday defied the early morning rain to embark on a protest against the continued strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

The students, who took their protest to the King Square area of the city, demanded an end to the strike. They said they are tired of staying at home, cut off from their academic pursuits. The students also defied the heavy downpour. Read more.

Business mogul, Dr Jimoh Ibrahim, an APC aspirant for the Ondo South Senatorial District on Wednesday,  picket the party’s  N20 million Expression of Interest and Nomination forms at the APC Secretariat, Abuja.

Ibrahim, the founder of University of Fortunes, Igbotako, confirmed this in Okitipupa, Okitipupa Local Government  Area of Ondo State. Read more.
