1. Electoral Act: Presidency, OSGF disagree over ministers’ refusal to resign

The Presidency and the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation on Tuesday passed the buck over the refusal of ministers, ambassadors and aides to the President to resign ahead of the governorship and presidential primaries of the All Progressives Congress which commence on May 25.

This is just as the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, on Tuesday declared his intention to contest the presidential election. Just like the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, who joined the presidential race last week, Ngige also refused to resign.

2. Governor Wike says Buhari’s has made ICPC & EFCC irrelevant anti-corruption agencies  [NewsWireNGR]

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, says the presidential pardon for persons prosecuted on corruption charges by the Federal Government only suggests that there is no need to have anti-corruption agencies in the country.

The Lagos State Police Command has invited all parties involved in the alleged sexual abuse of a 10-year-old primary six pupil of Chrisland Schools located in the Victoria Garden City area of the state.

4. Gunmen abduct 5 persons returning from wedding ceremony in Anambra [NewsWireNGR]

No fewer than five guests returning from a traditional wedding ceremony in Anambra were on Monday night abducted by suspected gunmen.

DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer of the Police Command in Anambra, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Tuesday in Awka.

A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 general election and former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, yesterday, said that having known the problem of Nigeria, he is the only presidential candidate that can fix the country.

Obi stated this in Abakaliki when he met with PDP delegates and other officials of the party, adding that the country is not in need of a consensus candidate but a problem solver that can fix Nigeria, noting that he has the capacity to do that. Read more.
