American comedian ‘Gilbert Gottfreid’ dies from recurrent illness

American actor and stand-up comedian Gilbert Jeremy Gottfried, stage name Gilbert Gottfreid has passed at 67. 

The actor who is known for his exaggerated, shrill voice in the film ‘Problem Child’, was announced dead by his family in a statement shared on April 12. 

The statement reads “We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Gilbert Gottfried after a long illness.

In addition to being the most iconic voice in comedy, Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend and father to his two young children. 

Although today is a sad day for all of us, please keep laughing as loud as possible in Gilbert’s honor. Love, the Gottfried family”

Gottfried was known for speaking in a loud and grating voice, which was not his natural speaking voice.

He died in the Manhattan borough of New York City, New York, USA from recurrent ventricular tachycardia that was complicated by type II myotonic dystrophy.
