‘Heeey God! ATM Card Info’: Punters raise alarm over hack of Bet9ja site
The management of the Nigerian popular betting platform, Bet9ja, has confirmed a cyber-attack that is restricting customers from having access to the platform.
Bet9ja management had however on April 6 alerted punters that “We are currently experiencing an issue with our website.
“This means you may not be able to login. We take this matter very seriously and our IT team is working on it as their number one priority right now.
“We will resolve this as soon as possible, and we’ll keep you updated with our progress.
“Rest assured your funds are safe.
“We apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience during this time.”
Some hours later, the betting platform however informed the public that its platform “has become a victim of a sophisticated criminal cyber-attack”.
This was also corroborated by the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority.
Some punters registered on the platform are however scared about the safety of their account and ATM card information.
A user @stanmegamix cried out; “Heeey God!.. card info is saved their oo .. Una Good luck in the cyber war”.
Another user, @ChimuanyaDaniel, experiencing the same fear said; “My card details are saved on my bet9ja account,God abeg o”.
Responding to a user, @Eazymayaki, who asked; “I hope my saved ATM card is safe sha?”, Bet9ja said; “We are working to fix it as soon as possible, please note that your fund, account details, bets, and winnings are safe.”
