1. Presidency: PDP panel dumps zoning, fears North’s voting strength [Punch Newspaper]

The zoning committee of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, contrary to the expectation of its southern members, has recommended an open race for the party’s 2023  presidential ticket.

The party’s 37-person zoning committee, which took the decision at the Benue State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, on Tuesday, cited ‘exigency of time’ for its recommendation.

2. Shock, as terror attack on Army base claims 17 soldiers [Vanguard News Nigeria]

Terrorists, suspected to be the Ansaru arm of the Boko Haram sect, on Monday attacked a military base at Polewire in Birnin-Gwari, Kaduna State, killing 17 soldiers and injuring 40 others, after a fierce gun battle between both parties.

The gunmen also killed three locals, razed four armoured vehicles and went away with military weapons after killing the soldiers. Read more.

3. Nigerian Cross-dressers, risk months in prison – there’s a new bill in parliament [NewsWireNGR]

A member of the House of Representatives, Umar Muda, has introduced a bill to prohibit cross-dressing in Nigeria.

The bill was read on the floor of the House on Tuesday. It seeks to ban cross-dressing with the exemption of those using it for entertainment.

Some Nigerian crossdressers have become very popular in Nigeria, especially, Instagram entertainer, Bobrisky and James Brown. Read more.

Families of abducted and missing train passengers on the ill-fated Nigerian Railway Corporation AK9 Kaduna bound train attacked by terrorists on Monday March 28th, 2022, have made a passionate appeal for the unconditional and safe release of the victims. 

The next of kins under the aegis of #SaveAK9Passengers made the call to the government Tuesday. They called on Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene in the unfolding hostage situation.  Read more.
