1. PDP backs Obasanjo, Adeboye’s fears over killings, 2023 elections [Punch Newspaper]

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo says the regime of the President Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has been overwhelmed by insecurity as evidenced by the bomb attack on a Kaduna-bound train last week.

This is just as the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, expressed shock over the bombing of the train.

2. FG borrows N2.2trn from local investors [Vanguard Newspaper]

In continuation of efforts to fund the N6.4 trillion deficit spending in budget 2022, the Federal Government borrowed N2.2 trillion from local investors in the first quarter of the year, Q1’22, through FGN Bonds, treasury bills and the FGN Savings Bonds.

The amount borrowed however represents an 8.6 per cent decline when compared to N2.4 trillion representing 8.6 per cent, YoY decline from N2.43 trillion sold in Q1’21.
But the FG also paid local investors N827 billion for loans through matured treasury bills, resulting in net borrowing of N1.93 trillion from local investors in Q1’22.

3. Soun: ‘RCCG pastor is chosen Oba, promises to embrace 3 religions’ [NewsWireNGR]

Although surrounded by lots of controversies, the selection of Prince Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye, a Pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, as new Soun of Ogbomoso land has been confirmed by the Head of the kingmakers in Ogbomoso, High Chief Sobaloju Otolorin.

Speaking weekend with journalists, Otolorin said the chosen Soun of Ogbomoso (Prince Olaoye) has promised to embrace the three religions – Christianity, Islam, and Traditional. Read more.

4. Man allegedly kills father with machete in Ogun for waking him up [NewsWireNGR]

The Police Command in Ogun on Sunday said it had arrested a 27-year-old man, Ibrahim Sikiru, for allegedly killing his father with a machete at Onipanu area of the state.

The Police Spokesman in Ogun, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen in Ota, saying that the suspect was arrested on March 30.

Oyeyemi explained that the suspect was arrested following a complaint lodged at the Onipanu Divisional Headquarters,by one Abiodun Sunday. Read more.

5. “Who is stealing the oil”? – Pastor Enoch Adeboye says Nigeria might go bankrupt [NewsWireNGR]

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has rued oil theft in the country, warning that Nigeria might go bankrupt if the trend is not checked.

‘Daddy Adeboye,’ as he is fondly called, said this in a sermon to his congregation during a thanksgiving service on Sunday. Read more.

6. Armed men kill Federal Road Safety Corps patrol team operatives in Anambra State [NewsWireNGR]

Armed men have attacked a Federal Road Safety Corps patrol team in Anambra State, killing two operatives and injuring the unit commander.

The team was reportedly conducting a routine patrol operation along Igbo-Uku- Uga route at about 2.45pm on Sunday when the gunmen opened fire on the driver and two other officials while the fourth official escaped into the bush. Read more.
