The paramount ruler of Onitsha in Anambra State, His Majesty Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Ugochukwu Achebe, has revealed how he was saved from boarding the recently attacked Abuja-Kaduna train by terrorists on Monday, March 28.

The monarch noted that he was meant to be an occupant of the train but a last-minute telephone call made him miss the train ride.

On that fateful day, terrorists attacked the Kaduna-bound train. They bombed the rails hence the train was forced to a halt.

Witnesses said the attackers later surrounded most of the coaches and opened fire before they forcefully gained access, and fired at random, which led to the death of some people.

Speaking of the incident when Igbo leaders under the aegis of Ahamefuna Socio-cultural organisation converged in Enugu, Igwe Achebe said he did not board the train because the phone call informed him of an emergency.

The king said, “I was among the passengers meant to be on the train last Monday because I had a meeting I was supposed to attend. I was already at the train station when I got a call over an emergency and I had to leave the station to attend to it.”
