Oscar Slap: Will Smith resigns; faces panel in two weeks

Hollywood actor, Will Smith, has resigned from the Oscars Academy after slapping comedian Chris Rock on stage during last Sunday’s ceremony.

“My actions at the 94th Academy Awards presentation were shocking, painful, and inexcusable,” his statement said.

The Academy said it accepted the resignation and would “continue to move forward” with disciplinary proceedings.

The Hollywood actor, rapper, and film producer, however is set to have a hearing in April 18, 2022, with the Academy to determine if he still has an Oscar.

This report is coming after the actor slapped a colleague and comedian’Chris Rock’ at the 94th Academy awards for making a joke of his wife’s autoimmune disease. 

Chris Rock reportedly stopped the police from whisking the actor away from the event, according to Oscars Producer ‘Will Packer’.

The comedian was asked if he would want Will Smith removed from the premises and arrested for the assault, but he declined the offer.
