Alleged Misappropriation of N42bn: Obiano leaves EFCC custody

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released the immediate former governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, from its custody almost a week after he was arrested at Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.

Obiano according to a reliable source was released on Wednesday night after meeting the administrative bail conditions earlier granted him by the anti-graft agency.

One of the bail conditions was for him to produce to sureties, who must be directors on grade level 17 in the Federal Civil service.

Another condition was for him to produce two senior citizens, who must be landlords in Maitama, Asokoro or Wuse district of Abuja.

The former governor, who had been on EFCC’s watchlist, was among other things, accused of misappropriating public funds totalling about N42billion.
