1. Sack from Office: Court strikes out Ebonyi gov’s motion to stop execution of judgement [NewsWireNGR]

A Federal High Court (FHC), Abuja, on Monday, struck out the motion filed by sacked Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi, seeking a stay of execution of the March 8 judgment.

Justice Inyang Ekwo struck out the motion after Chukwuma Ma-Chukwu Ume, SAN, counsel for Umahi and his deputy, Kelechi Igwe, prayed the court for the withdrawal of the motion, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s lawyer, Emmanuel Ukala, SAN, did not oppose the application. Read more.

The Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has disclosed the reason why the immediate former governor of Anambra state, Willie Obiano, is still in its custody.

Speaking to journalists on the sideline of the 5th Annual General Assembly (AGA) meeting of the Network of National Anti-Corruption Institutions in West Africa (NACIWA), taking place in Abuja, EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, said Obiano is yet to perfect the conditions the EFCC stipulated for his release on bail. 3. Court sacks 2 Reps members, 18 Cross River lawmakers for defecting to APC [NewsWireNGR]

A Federal High Court, Abuja, on Monday, declared the seats of 20 lawmakers from Cross River vacant over their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to All Progressives Congress (APC).

Justice Taiwo Taiwo, in a judgment, dismissed the defence argument that the PDP (plaintiff) had no locus standi (legal rights) to institute the case. Read more.

4. LG Chairman treks as employees seize official car over unpaid salaries [NewsWireNGR]

Members of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) have attacked the chairman, Barrister Adegoke Ogunsola, of Irepodun Local Government Council Secretariat, Ilobu, in Kwara state.

The employees who were protesting their unpaid entitlements according to reports seized the official car of the secretary to the Council and drove the LG Chairman’s car into the secretariat forcing him (Barrister Adegoke Ogunsola) to trek. Read more.

5. Buhari meets Uzodimma and power minister over epileptic electricity [NewsWireNGR]

President Muhammadu Buhari has summoned the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma; the Minister of Power, Abubakar Aliyu as well as the Chief Economic Adviser, Prof Doyin Salami to a meeting at the Presidential Villa.

According to a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President is scheduled to meet separately with them on Monday afternoon. Read more.

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nassarawa State says the All Progressives Congress’ governors have resolved their differences ahead of the March 26 National Convention of the party.
