‘Everywhere Red!!!’: Reactions as Mr Macaroni advises people against asking for money

Comic skit maker and actor Mr Macaroni, whose real name is Debo Adedayo tweeted on March 11, 2022, about people asking for money.

He noted that with the state of the economy of the country, it is not a good time to ask anyone for money. He called it ‘wicked’ in fact to do so.

His tweet reads “I think it is wickedness to be asking anybody for money this period. Everywhere Red!!! Bird is not singing like bird and rat is not crying like rat.”

There are a number of responses to the comic’s tweet with some even agreeing with him, but there are three in particular, addressing the entitlement of help-seekers, the state of the economy, and the etiquette of people asked for help.

Daniel Regha who is a twitter influencer has – by no surprise – stated it is okay for people to ask for money, but the people in question, should also understand that they are not entitled to the hell they request.

His tweet reads “There’s nothing wrong, disgraceful or wicked about asking people for financial assistance as long as the help-seeker isn’t feeling entitled.”

“So if someone asks u for money, do ur best to help cos putting a smile on one’s face is a privilege. The essence of life is serving others.”

Another user in respond to the comic’s tweet, agreed the state of the economy is so poor his friend had to get a smartphone downgrade twice.

That tweet reads “One of my guy wey Dey use iPhone 13 don sell am buy iPhone X, e no tey d guy still sell am buy iPhone 6. Dis period everywhere just red”

A third tweep responded “If you must ask, ask politely and not with a sense of entitlement. And if you must decline, let it be respectfully and not to shame who is asking. This life no balance “
