Zamfara Deputy governor, Aliyu Gusau, impeached
Zamfara State Deputy Governor, Barrister Mahdi Aliyu Gusau, has been impeached by the House of Assembly at a plenary on Wednesday.
The state’s lawmakers in a wide margin vote voted for Aliyu’s impeachment following the report of the judicial panel of investigations.
20 out of 24 of the members voted on the ground that the panel investigations found the deputy governor guilty of the allegations levelled against him.

A seven-man panel headed by Justice Halidu Tanko was set-up by the Assembly to investigate alleged gross misconduct and abuse of office by the deputy governor. They began sitting at the State High Court 4, Gusau on Monday, Feb 21.
The deputy governor was absent and was not represented by any legal counsel through out the sitting.
