FACT-CHECK: Did the Minister of Health say DNA test will be available for free in government-owned hospitals from June?

Claim: A Tweet by a popular Twitter handle, claimed that the federal government, through the Minister of Health, has announced plans to start free DNA tests in government-owned hospitals across the country by June this year.

The tweet

The tweet which has over 254 replies, 1252 retweets, and 2711 likes, has also been reproduced on several other social media platforms, and by other users.

Verification: A second look at the claim shows that there is no context to the tweet; there is no mention of when the minister said that, where he said it; on what occasion, and on what date. There is nothing, just that claim.

NewsWireNGR fact-check used search engine, Google, to check for relevant claim. There was no reputable media organisation that published a story of the Minister, Dr Olorunnimbe Mamora, making such pronouncements.

Further digging revealed that the Minister had in an interview with the Punch newspaper denied making any such claim.

Verdict: The claim is FALSE, as the minister has denied making the claim.
