1. Wanted ‘Super Cop,’ Abba Kyari, Four Others in NDLEA Custody over Drug Dealing [ThisDay Newspaper]

Few hours after he was declared wanted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) over involvement in a cocaine deal, suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari was yesterday handed over by the police to the anti-narcotics agency.

Kyari had solved many criminal cases and was until recently among the most celebrated police officers in the country. But he found himself in troubled waters when he was associated with Hushpuppi’s cybercrime case. An American court ordered his deportation to the United States to be prosecuted along with Abbas Ramon, alias Hushpuppi, a request the Nigerian government was yet to respond to. Read more.

2. Battle for consensus candidate puts APC National Convention at risk [Vanguard Newspaper]

The scheduled February 26 national convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, now hangs in the balance, following high-level intrigues designed to arrive at a consensus option for most of the positions.

According to APC’s national convention timetable and schedule of activities, the sale of forms for all positions in the National Working Committee, NWC, was to have begun yesterday but some of the aspirants who were at the national secretariat of the party could not get the forms and were asked to come back at another time.

The National Association of Nigerian Students on Monday condemned the strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

The West African Examinations Council, WAEC Nigeria, has announced the release of results of the  West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE, for Private Candidates, 2021 – Second-Series,  stating that Twenty Five Thousand and Eight, 25,008  candidates representing 48.61 %,  out of a total of fifty One Thousand, Four Hundred and Forty-Four, 51,444 candidates, obtained credits and above in a minimum of five (5) subjects, including English Language and Mathematics. The 2022 Valentine celebration in Enugu State has been marred by sit-at-home order by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as gardens and parks remained almost empty.
