1. N3.1bn pangolin scales, elephant tusks enroute Asia intercepted in Nigeria [NewsWireNGR]

The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), in collaboration with the Wildlife Justice Commission, has intercepted pangolin scales and elephant tusks worth N3.1billion being transported through Nigeria to Asia.

The Controller General of Customs, Hameed Ali, who disclosed this yesterday while displaying the seized items to journalists at the Customs Training College, Ikeja, Lagos, said 15 sacks of pangolin scales (839.4kg) and four sacks of elephant tusks (145kg) were intercepted in a Toyota Sienna bus with registration number KRD 541 HH at Lekki on February 2, 2022. 2. Woman arrested for allegedly forging 117 POS receipts, stealing N17.9m [NewsWireNGR]

A 27-year-old woman, Mutiat Ajoke, on Thursday appeared before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun for allegedly forging 117 Point of Sales receipts.

The police charged Ajoke, whose address was not given, with two counts of theft and forgery.

The Prosecution Counsel, Insp E.O.Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between January,2020 and January, 2022 at Payee Ventures, Ota. Read more.

3. VIDEOs: Armed robbers attack bullion van, kill policemen in Ibadan [NewsWireNGR]

Armed robbers on Thursday attacked a bullion van transporting money to a bank at Idi-Ape in Ibadan North East Local Government area of Oyo state, killing policemen and passersby hit by bullets.

According to a Twitter user; “Sadly, the bullion van robbery attack at Idi Ape, Ibadan happened and the robbers escaped with money. Policemen were killed, passerby hit by bullets (hoping they survive)“. Read more.

A DSS officer who appeared in court on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, as the 10th Prosecution Witness (PW10) in the continuation of the trial of Uduak-Abasi Akpan, his father Mr Frank Akpan, and sister Anwan Bassey Akpan over the alleged rape, and murder of Iniubong Umoren.
