Gunmen have killed two chieftains of the All Progressives Congress in Enugu

Gunmen have killed two chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and kidnapped one other from a party ward in Enugu state.

The gunmen were said to have stormed ward III venue in Obeagu Awkunanaw of Enugu South Local Government Area.

Eyewitnesses say, members of the party were having a reconciliation meeting for opposing factions, when the armed gunmen numbering over seven invaded the venue, killing the two-party members instantly and abducting one other person.

Meanwhile, an APC chieftain and the Director-General of Voice of Nigeria Osita Okechukwu has condemned the act. He called for calm amongst party members in the state, asking the security agencies to unravel the incident and bring the perpetrators to book.
