2023: I don’t believe in president of Igbo extraction — Orji Kalu

Former governor of Abia state, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has claimed he did not believe in a Nigerian president of Igbo extraction.

The Chief Whip of the Senate and member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) stated this on Wednesday in Abuja during an interaction with journalists.

“I don’t believe, I believe in Nigerian President of Igbo extraction,” he said.

Kalu had earlier revealed he will consider contesting for president if APC zones its presidential ticket to the South-East region.

He however noted on Wednesday that he has not commenced consultation.

Questioned of his view about the declaration of South East politicians like the governor of Ebony state, Dave Umahi, the Abia North senator responded; “Well they are pushing but they are not serious, a serious-minded person will like to be fair to Nigeria, fair to the society and to be fair to the atmosphere, because the party is not owned by me or you the media.

“This party is owned by Nigerians and the APC members. It is only APC that can decide, like at the forthcoming convention where the Presidential ticket will be zoned to. If they zone it to the south-east I have everything it takes to make a good President.”
