1. Boko Haram still in control of 2 Borno LGAs, says Zulum [Vanguard Newspaper]

Governor  Babagana Zulum of Borno State cried out yesterday that two local government areas in his state, Abadam and Guzamala, are still under the control of Boko Haram.

The governor’s disclosure came against the backdrop of repeated claims by the Federal Government that the insurgent group had been largely decimated to the extent that it could no longer hold on to any local government in terms of control. Read more.

2. Terrorists on the rampage in Plateau, Niger, kill 52, abduct hunters, others [Punch Newspaper]

Fifty-two persons have been killed in separate attacks on communities in Plateau and Niger states.

While 18 persons were confirmed killed after gunmen attacked the Ncha community in the Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, gunmen on Wednesday attacked two communities in Niger State and killed 34 persons.

3. Tinubu 2023: No support for anyone until restructuring — Afenifere [NewsWireNGR]

The leader of pan Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, has said the group will not be supporting any candidate for the 2023 presidential election except the nation’s constitution is changed.

4. Former minister of finance, Chu Okogwu, dies aged 87 [NewsWireNGR]

Former minister of finance, Sonny Chu Okongwu, has died at the age of 87 on Wednesday.

He was the minister of finance during the Babangida administration between 1986–1990.

Okongwu was born on September 23, 1934, in Anambra state, Nigeria. He is the first of eight children. Read more.

5. Buhari finally lifts suspension of Twitter [NewsWireNGR]

President Muhammadu Buhari has finally lifted the suspension of the use of the microblogging platform, Twitter, in the country after 8 months.

This was disclosed by the Chairman Technical Committee Nigeria-Twitter Engagement and Director-General National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi.

According to him, the approval was given following a memo written to the President by Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof Isa Ali Ibrahim. Read more.
