Wizkid says first time he was booked for a show in London, he was denied a UK visa

Grammy Award-winning Afrobeats superstar, Wizkid, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun talks touring, fatherhood and world domination but importantly he shares his love for his fans and country Nigeria with Vogue.

But he reminds his fans of his grass to grace story in the course of the interview, explaining that the first time he was booked to perform in London, he couldn’t get a visa to be at the show, many years down that road, he sells O2 Arena in 12 minutes – talk about “time and chance”.

“London has always been a special place for me,” – Wizkid  Explains while talking about his love for the UK and fans, he adds, “From the moment I landed, it was love everywhere I went,”.

“It’s crazy because the first time I was actually booked for a show in London, I couldn’t get the visa to go. I remember I filmed a video to apologise to my fans – and they went in on me!”……

NewsWireNGR recalls that, Wizkid’s recent Made in lagos show in London in November sold out just 12 minutes after going live, leaving fans begging for more dates to be added, he then turned it to a three night back to back concert.

The Nigerian singer-songwriter, 31, had announced the show at the end of July, playing one date at London’s O2 Arena on November 28. 

Tickets went on general sale on Friday, August 6, but Wizkid’s fans snapped all of the available tickets within 12 minutes of them going live. 

Wizkid released Made In Lagos last October, and fans were eager to get their hands on tickets to see him perform live.
