Plateau lawmaker, Henry Longs, dies after leg surgery

A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and member of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Henry Longs, has died after leg surgery.

According to a report by The Punch, Longs who represents Pankshin South State Constituency died Sunday night.

The Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Philip Dasun while confirming Long’s death said “It is true we lost one of our members this evening, the lawmaker representing Pankshin South State Constituency, Hon. Henry Longs.

“He had a problem with one of his legs and had gone for an operation. Unfortunately, he did not make it. His death is very sad and we will miss him.”

Another lawmaker who expressed sadness over Long’s death said the deceased had been at the forefront for the State Assembly to follow due process in conducting its affairs especially during the ongoing leadership crisis that engulfed the Assembly.

He said “Longs’ death is a big blow to the State Assembly especially to the camp of Ayuba Abok. He is a strong supporter of Ayuba as Speaker of the House. He is one of those people who has stood their ground for the right thing to be done in resolving the leadership crisis among the lawmakers and we will surely miss his contributions for the development of his constituency and Plateau state at large.”
