21-Storey Building Collapse: Two persons rescued

Two persons have been rescued after a 21-storey building collapsed at Musikiu Junction by Gerard Road, Ikoyi in Lagos state.

The two survivors, both male, NewsWireNGR gathered were rescued at about 4:15 pm.

The 21-storey building which was still under construction collapsed Monday afternoon with several persons mostly construction workers feared being trapped.

Reacting, the Director General, LASEMA, Dr Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, said the agency has activated its emergency response plan to the scene of the incident.

“Heavy-duty equipment and life detection equipment have been dispatched,” he noted.

Also, the Acting Coordinator, National Emergency Management  Agency, NEMA, Lagos State, Ibrahim Farinloye, said rescue operation is ongoing.

Commenting, an eyewitness, Mr Thompson David who narrated the incident said; “I saw the building going down, it was so pathetic that I can not help but watch how the building went down from one side of the pillar that probably breaks or something happens to the pillar”.
