Catholic priest regains freedom 10 days after abduction in Umuahia

Reverend Father Mark Chimezie Godfrey who was kidnapped on October 13, 2021, in Abia state capital, Umuahia, has regained freedom.

Rev Godfrey was abducted by unknown men along Enyiukwu Road, Afaraukwu Ibeku in Umuahia North LGA of Abia State.

NewsWireNGR gathered that the cleric’s release, 10 days after his kidnap was announced by the Catholic Diocese of Umuahia in a statement signed by the Catholic Bishop of Umuahia, Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji.

The release did not note whether a ransom was paid or not.

Bishop Ugorji also expressed his deep gratitude to all bishops, priests, consecrated men and women as well as all Christian faithful who assisted in prayers during the difficult and trying period the priest was in captivity.
