How LAUTECH Professor died in Ogbomoso mosque

It was a tragedy in Oyo state on Friday as a lecturer and professor of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) slumped and die during a Jummat service.

According to reports, the lecturer, Professor Abass Olajire, attended the Ansarudeen Mosque at Oke-Ado area of Ogbomoso like other Muslim faithfuls on Friday.

The 59-year-old lecturer kicked the bucket a few minutes after he slumped.

He was confirmed dead at the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso.

Olajire joined Ladoke Akintola University of Technology in 1990 as an assistant lecturer. He is an alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University and University of Ibadan.

Family sources said the late scholar would be buried in Ibadan on Saturday, according to Islamic rites.

Olajire was recently listed among the top scholars in the world, according to a ranking released by Elsevier B. V (Netherlands) and a team of researchers led by Prof. John P.A. loannidis from Stanford University, United States.

Public Relations Officer of the institution, Lekan Fadeyi confirmed the death of the don.

Fadeyi noted that the professor was confirmed dead at LAUTECH teaching hospital.

According to him, “He slumped at the Ansarul Deen Mosque, Stadium Road and was confirmed dead at the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital”.
