The governor of Ebonyi state, David Umahi, has warned the former aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, to “withdraw the statement” where he claimed he (FFK) facilitated his defection to the APC.

Recall Fani-Kayode on Thursday officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), while claiming his move was being “led by the Spirit of God“.

Also speaking during his reception by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Fani-Kayode boasted to have facilitated the defection of three former governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.

He named the governors to include Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, Ben Ayade of Cross River State and Bello Matawale of Zamfara State.

Debunking the statement, Umahi during a Channels TV breakfast show, Sunrise Daily, said; “For someone to come and say that a whole Chairman of the South East Governors Forum, that he was instrumental to my movement from PDP to APC is an insult on my person and with all due respect, he has to withdraw that statement.

“He remains my friend and a good one for that matter, but he played no role in my movement and I am sure he didn’t play any role in the movement of the rest of us”.
