Security agencies confirm fresh attack on Southern Kaduna community

Security agencies in Kaduna state have confirmed the attack on a Christian community near Kibori in Zangon Kataf local government area of the state.

Recall NewsWireNGR had earlier reported that the assailants suspected to be Fulani herdsmen in their numbers invaded the agrarian community at about 8 pm local time on Sunday and began shooting sporadically as villagers scamper for safety.

Community sources who prefer to be anonymous said the attack left 13 people dead, including two heavily pregnant.

“Eleven adults were killed but among them were two heavily pregnant women which brings the figure to at least 13,” a resident claimed.

However, the report by the security agencies claimed that 12 persons were killed during the attack while two were injured.

The deceased were identified as Philbia Yusuf, Suzanna Ezekiel, Rahib Alex, Ishaku Bamaiyi, Deborah Ishaku, Tinat Bamaiyi, Zichat Kefas, Sunday Daniel, Hauwa Gabriel, Fedelia Famson, Sadia Donald and Goodness Kefas.

Meanwhile, a Pastor of ECWA Church, Kibori-Asha Awuce, in Zangon Kataf LGA, was earlier reported to have been hacked to death by assailants.

The deceased, who until his death was the presiding Pastor of ECWA was said to have departed for Kafanchan on Saturday.

Nothing was heard of him, until his corpse was found by a search party early on Sunday where he was apparently attacked and hacked to death.
