The Sarkin Sudan of Kontagora, Niger State, Alhaji Saidu Umaru Namaska, has been reported dead at the age of 84.
The emir who ruled for 47 years until his death according to reports died at an Abuja hospital.
However, no official statement has been released by the palace and family members, thus, the cause of death currently unconfirmed.
The Emir’s death comes three months after bandits gunned down his eldest son during an attack on the monarch’s farm.

Alhaji Bashar Saidu Namaska, the deceased’s son, was on the farm along Zuru road in Kontagora Local Government Area when the bandits struck.
Some other people working with him were also said to have been shot dead while unspecified number of cows were rustled.
The traditional ruler’s son was the Sardauna of Kontagora and had been standing in for his father, the Sarkin Sudan, while he was sick.
Namaska was the Director-General of the Niger State Public Procurement Board between 2013 and 2015.
The prince was born in 1979 and was the District Head of Kontagora I and Sardaunan Kontagora until the time of his death.
