Gunmen kidnap monarch from his palace in Niger

Sub-editorGunmen have invaded the palace of a traditional ruler in New Bussa, headquarters of Borgu LGA of Niger state.
The gunmen according to reports did not leave empty-handed as they marched away with the monarch, Mahmud Aliyu, the Dodo of Wawa.
Confirming the incident, Wasiu Abiodun, Niger state police command said security operatives have been deployed to arrest the culprits and rescue the victim.
“While police tactical team and members of the vigilante of the area have been deployed for manhunt of the hoodlums to rescue the victim and arrest the culprits,” he said.
In a related development, notorious bandits terrorising the Northern part of the country has again struck in Katsina, the home state of President Muhammadu Buhari, this time kidnapping the wife of a member of the state House of Assembly.
According to a former Kaduna senator who disclosed the development, the bandits carried out the heinous act at night.
In a Twitter post, Shehu Sani said; “While the elder brother of the Katsina state Secretary to the Government is still in the hands of Bandits, the terrorists have struck again this night and kidnapped the wife of a member of state House of Assembly Dr Ibrahim Kurami.
“It’s time for the President to save Katsina state”.
