Lagos diverts traffic at Teslim Balogun Stadium ahead of Super Eagles game

The Lagos State Government has announced diversion of traffic to Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere ahead of preparation for the FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifying match between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Liberia.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the qualifying match between the two countries will be played by 5 p.m on September 3.

A statement issued by the Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederic Oladeinde, explained that vehicles would be barred from accessing Surulere from Teslim axis from noon.

Oladeinde added that the diversion would include the service lane inbound the National Stadium from Alaka and Teslim Balogun Stadium from Ojuelegba.

“Motorists heading towards Costain, Lagos Island from Masha/Kilo and Surulere are advised to use Adeniran Ogunsanya or Bode Thomas to link Iponri or Eric Moore to access their destinations.

“Better still, they can alternately utilise Adelabu to connect Babs Animashaun/Eric Moore axis to link Brewery and access Costain or Eko Bridge.

“In the same vein, motorists can use the aforementioned route to access Surulere from Lagos Island.

“Traffic heading towards Ikorodu Road from Surulere is also advised to make use of Akerele to link Ogunlana Drive inwards Itire road and connect Ojuelegba to their destination,” he said.

The commissioner assured motorists that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) alongside security agencies would be on ground to ensure easy traffic flow.

He requested the cooperation of Surulere community and all that ply the affected axis for the ease of the flow of traffic.
