Fifteen out of the remaining 80 kidnapped students of Bethel Baptist High School have regained their freedom.

Recall that 121 students were abducted by bandits from the school on July 5, 2021, after invading the school located just a few kilometres away from Kaduna metropolis.

The bandits had released 28 of the students on Sunday, July 25, after N50m ransom was paid.

NewsWireNGR however learnt that the new set of released students were released on Saturday night after Joseph Hayab, chairman of the Kaduna state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), confirmed their release.

While confirming the development in Kaduna on Sunday, Hayab, said “15 were released last night. We have chosen not to make it elaborate since we still have 65 left and the pace of the release is slow for our expectation.”

He also noted that there would be no reunion ceremony for the freed students as their parents will simply pick them up and go home.

It is however unclear if a ransom was paid for their release.
