BREAKING: Messi reaches agreement with PSG; signs 2 year deal

French football giants, Paris Saint-Germain have finally reportedly reached an agreement with Lionel Messi.

According to a report by Sky Sports, the 34-year-old and his lawyers would be expected in Paris on Tuesday afternoon.

Sources at the French club confirmed Messi’s lawyers had been pouring over the contract proposal since Sunday but gave they gave their approval this morning.

A press conference is set to take place on Wednesday at the Parc des Princes.

The six-time Ballon d’Or winner has been intensely linked to PSG ever since Barcelona on Thursday announced that he would be prevented from renewing his new contract with the Spanish club amid financial concerns “and structural obstacles”.

An emotional Messi bid his farewell to fans and officials of Barcelona on Sunday, saying he never wanted to leave the club. He said he had hoped to continue at the club after agreeing a 50% paycut but La Liga rules meant he could no longer continue.

This year, my family and I were convinced we were going to stay at home, that’s what we all wanted more than anything,” said Messi.

“We’d always made this our own, we were at home. We thought we would be staying here in Barcelona. But today, we have to say goodbye to all of this.

“I did everything possible and the club, Laporta, they couldn’t do it because of La Liga.

“I’ve heard things said about me, that I didn’t want to continue, but on my life, we did everything we could because I wanted to stay.

“Last year, I didn’t want to stay and I said it; this year, I wanted to stay and we couldn’t.”
