Just In: Nigeria Customs allegedly kill 5 people while chasing rice smugglers

5 residents of Jibia Katsina state, have been reported killed as Customs officials chased rice smugglers in the area.

NewsWireNGR gathered that the vehicle of the custom officials ran into a gathering of residents while chasing the suspected rice smugglers, killing five persons and injuring many others.

“They were chasing rice smugglers at high speed. Their vehicle lost control and killed at least five persons, which prompted violent protests by the residents,” An eyewitness reported.

In the ensuing protest, the customs’ vehicle was vandalised by the angry youths in the area. NewsWireNGR gathered.
